Founded on November 14, 1982, the KASAMA sa UP is a University of the Philippines-based alliance of Student Councils.



The Alliance today positions itself from the strategic viewpoint of a system-wide body of student leaders and representatives continuously learning and analyzing the University and its conditions vis-à-vis the Philippines and its broad education policies.

Protecting the right to education, the Alliance sees it as a weapon to make change and forge the future. The student councils of the Alliance play an active part in struggle for democratic rights and interest and in the shaping of UP history.

The KASAMA sa UP must help develop the different campuses of the University as regional centers for the student sectoral and people’s multi-sectoral movement. By coordinating national campaigns, the KASAMA sa UP can tap the regional centers of the University in disseminating the Alliance’s position and involving the broadest number of students and sectors.
